The first dental visit is the most important.

Introducing children at an early age allows them to become comfortable in a dental environment. Over time, regular visits to the dentist will become routine, and help to develop lasting relationships.

WHEN SHOULD YOU VISIT THE DENTIST

The Canadian Dental Association recommends that children are assessed by a dentist within six months of their first tooth, or by 1 year of age. However, we often see children around the 2-2.5 year age mark, as long as there are no prior concerns.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The goal of these initial visits are to help children and their parents get used to the dentist, to catch potential problems before they arise, review proper tooth brushing techniques, and discuss appropriate oral hygiene and nutrition.
